Apple has determined that, in some rare cases, the USB Power Adapter for Apple

5W (Europe) may overheat and be a safety hazard. This power adapter came with all iPhone 3GS , iPhone 4 , and iPhone 4S models shipped between October 2009 and September 2012 in the countries listed below. It was also sold during this period as an individual accessory.

Customer safety is always Apple's first priority, and we have voluntarily made the decision to exchange any defective power supply with a new, redesigned power supply, free of charge. We recommend our customers to exchange any problematic power supply with a new one as soon as possible by following the exchange procedure below.

Note: Other Apple 5W USB Power Adapters are not part of this program.

Identifying your power supply

Check the label between the branches on your power supply and compare to the images outlined in red below. The model number and the color of the letters “CE” are how to identify a problem power supply.

Problem power supply Model A1300, marked “CE” in dark gray. If you have a problem power supply, stop using it and exchange it for a new one. You can charge your iPhone by connecting it via a USB cable to your computer until you receive a replacement power adapter.

Redesigned power supply Model A1400, with the "CE" marking in gray color. No need to exchange your power supply.

The exchange process

Bring the problematic power adapter to a participating Apple Authorized Service Center. Starting June 18, 2014, Wireless Service Provider Partners will also participate. We'll need to verify your iPhone's serial number as part of the trade-in process, so have your iPhone with you.

The defective power supply will be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.
